How to survive the credit crunch

 Learn to manage your stress

Almost unknown at own time, stress is becoming more prevalent in Irish society. It can be caused by financial pressure, overworking, and particularly by feeling that you don't have the resources needed to complete the task; a sense of not being in control.

Physical symptoms of stress include:
  • Raised Blood Pressure
  • Suppressed Immune System
  • Increased risk of Heart Attack or Stroke
  • Reduced Fertility
  • Speeded-up aging process
  • Pain
  • Digestive problems
 Mental symptoms of stress include:
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Eating disorders
  • Addictions and dependencies (e.g alcohol, tobacco, tranquilisers)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Stop smoking

The cost of a smoking habit is quite staggering. Smoking 20 cigarettes a day at a cost of eight euros per packet is equivalent to nearly €3000 per year! As reported in the Irish Independent, the cost to the average family of the recovery plan is estimated to be about €4600, so if you are a smoker this is a big opportunity to substantially ease the financial pain and improve your health at the same time! Even more so as the government's plans are expected to include an increase in tobacco taxes of about 50c per pack.
